Mishka gives concert profits to Chewstick
Reggae singer/songwriter Mishka is to draw on his international reputation to help a local charity.
The Chewstick Foundation will benefit from the proceeds of his upcoming concert, which will take place today at the World Heritage Centre in St George’s.
The performance begins at 8pm and will be the first event collaboration between Chewstick and the World Heritage Centre, which Chewstick described as “a wonderful way to end the year”.
Chewstick operations manager Deidra-Lee Bean said: “Mishka’s music is an eclectic mix of genres, influenced by his many travels.
“He has released five full-length albums to date. He is now in Bermuda, lending his voice to help The Chewstick Foundation to reintroduce dynamic programmes and events for community empowerment and enrichment. “The audience will be treated to Mishka’s unique mix of love songs, acoustic ballads, social justice songs and mellow vibes in a beautiful and historical setting, while enjoying complimentary refreshments.”
The event will also feature Chewstick’s executive director, Gavin Smith, who will perform original songs and covers. It will be one of two evenings of which the focus will be The Chewstick Foundation’s recovery from this year’s devastating fire.
“While Mishka will uplift and inspire right before the end of 2016, a variety of artists will then be featured on Friday, January 6, to bring in a prosperous 2017 with stories of hope as we look to the future. Neither of these, is an event to be missed,” said Ms Bean.
Tickets for Mishka’s concert are $40 and are available at www.ptix.bm. They may also be purchased at the door.
