Cheese product recall widens
The woe continues for Sargento, which expanded its recall to a wide variety of its cheese products over possible contamination by the bacteria Listerium.
Nacho & Taco shredded cheese with a sell-by date of 14 June 2017 was the first affected — and health officials added more on February 17:

Consumers can check if they have recalled product by visiting info.sargento.com. This webpage will be updated with the latest information about the Feb. 10 recall and this voluntary expanded recall. Consumers can also call Sargento Consumer Affairs at 1-800-243-3737 between 9am. and 4pm. (Central Time), or submit questions to the “Contact Us” page at sargento.com.
“We deeply regret any inconvenience or concern this issue has caused,” Sargento foods chief executive officer Louie Gentine said. “We have high expectations for the quality and safety of our products and hold our suppliers accountable to those same standards. We will continue to evaluate our processes to ensure we remain a leader in food safety and quality.”
Listeria is described potentially dangerous for the unborn children of pregnant women, as well as for persons with compromised immune systems.
Customers who find any of these products in their refrigerator are advised to discard them, or return the products to the store of purchase for a refund.
