A group of Saltus students recently took part in a United Nations conference about the topical issue of migration.

Briley Habib and Phillip Heap, the school’s heads of geography and design and technology respectively, took 11 SGY students to the annual UNIS-UN conference in New York, which brings together high school students from around the world to discuss contemporary issues.

Ms Habin said: “The theme was ‘Migration, Crossing the Line’ and students from across the world took part. There were opportunities for our students to participate in a question and answer sessions with visiting professors, journalists and policy fellows from the European Policy Institute.”

She added: “It is important that our students get to see, hear and learn about the big issues affecting our society so that they can make good, informed decisions, and this trip was extremely beneficial in that regard.”
