Premier continues with Youth Fitness Programme
Premier Michael Dunkley has been promoting his Youth Fitness Programme with recent visits to both West Pembroke and Francis Patton primary schools. And this Friday he’ll join the students at Somerset Primary to again highlight the importance of children’s health.
“The youth fitness initiative aims to provide Bermuda’s children with a means to improve their health and wellness in a fun, but structured manner,” said a Government spokesperson.
“During the school visits Mr Dunkley and the programme’s co-ordinator, Marie Beach Johnson, discussed with the students the importance engaging in a healthy and active lifestyle.”
In his visit to West Pembroke, the Premier was joined by Jeanne Atherden, Minister of Health and Seniors, and Cole Simons, Minister of Education. Since the programme began, Mr Dunkley has visited seven schools, sending the same message.
He launched the Youth Fitness Programme last September, under the Premier’s Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition.
