TeamBDA featured in two films
TeamBDA, featuring the island’s top young sailors, will be highlighted in two films which will be screened on April 10 at the Liberty Theatre.
The all-Bermudian team was formed almost two years to prepare for the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup in June, and have been training since.
A TeamBDA spokesperson said: “The event will showcase the whole team of young Bermudians, but highlights five torchbearers as they approach potentially history-making moments. Prepare to learn more about the team, including features on Ceci Wollman, Mustafa Ingham, Shomari Warner and Dimitri Stevens.
“A fifth sailor, Emily Nagel, left the team to take a job with SoftBank Team Japan — living the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup promise of providing a pathway from the youth ranks of the sport to the elite ranks.
“The two short movies are touching, emotional and reflective of the Bermudian spirit. The public can meet the team on the night and learn insights about their training journey. TeamBDA has been training full time since January and have made incredible improvements. This past week, they trained on the Great Sound with Oracle Team USA and Next Generation USA, the US team in the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup.”
The free screening and Meet and Greet event takes place between 5.30pm and 7pm.
Laura Cutler, manager of TeamBDA, said: “This is a whole team effort and we are excited to showcase these inspiring young Bermudians who are representing Bermuda this summer. I encourage the entire community to get behind our sailors. They are the perfect example of Bermuda’s youth rising to the occasion and we can’t wait for you to meet them.”
After April 10 the free screening the movies will be available online.
TeamBDA was guaranteed entry to the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup regatta as Bermuda is host to the 35th America’s Cup. Bermuda can cheer on team from the America’s Cup Village, starting from June 12 in the qualifier round. Tickets are still available at americascup.com/tickets.
