Fun day aims to highlight volunteering
The Centre on Philanthropy will host a family fun day in Victoria Park at the weekend to raise awareness of the importance of volunteerism.
The Allied World Family Community Day, which is in its sixth year, will be held on Sunday from 1pm until 5pm and allow families to learn more about charities on the island.
“This year we have more than 20 charitable organisations coming out to share information about who they are and what they do,” Elaine Butterfield, executive director of the Centre of Philanthropy said.
“Some will have activities set up, which families can participate in on the spot to show their support. Should the weather be inclement, the event will be moved to The Bullshead Car Park.
“The Centre on Philanthropy exists to serve non-profits and through the generous sponsorship of Allied World this is an excellent opportunity for families to get together, give back and enjoy themselves as well.”
Mike McCrimmon, head of Allied World Bermuda added: “On behalf of Allied World’s charity committee we are honoured to be able to contribute and support an event like this that creates awareness around the needs in our community. We hope that it will make an impact and a difference.
“We are optimistic many will come out to experience the event, and join the charities, the Centre’s staff and our staff and families. It’s a wonderful family event with lots of activities for children.”
