Forums to discuss end of life decisions
Friends of the Hospice will host a series of forums entitled Conversations on Being Mortal that will focus on end of life decisions in the coming weeks.
The first forum will take place this Saturday and is based on the book “Being Mortal” by Atul Gawande. It will run from 4pm to 6pm at Peace Lutheran Church Hall on South Road in Paget.
A team of four panellists made up of Dr Sharon Alikhani, a palliative and hospice care physician, Dr David Harries, a gerontologist, lawyer Harry Kessaram and Tawanna Wedderburn, CEO of Bermuda Health Council, will be on hand to provide personal and professional insight.
Cathy Belvedere, executive director of Friends of Hospice, said: “We are hoping that this will be the first in a series of conversations about death and dying.
“We also hope that there will be a groundswell of community collaboration that will be a part of a movement to identify topics that we need to include to provide support, but first, we have to have a conversation!”.
