Voluntary redundancies at Digicel
A number of workers at Digicel in Bermuda have accepted voluntary redundancy as part of the company’s global programme to trim its workforce by 25 per cent by mid-2018.
The company confirmed that a number of employees in Bermuda left Digicel yesterday as part of the programme. It did not specify how many had taken redundancy.
Last night a spokeswoman told The Royal Gazette: “Digicel can confirm that the first set of people whose applications to our enhanced voluntary separation programme were accepted left the business today.
“We would like to thank them for their valued contribution to Digicel and to wish them all the best for the future.”
Globally, the company operates in 31 markets. It announced its redundancy programme in February, explaining it would revamp the organisation’s structure with two “regional hubs” for the Caribbean and Central America, and two for the Pacific region.
