The winners of the National Trust’s Earth Day student video competition have been crowned.

The contest attracted 24 video entries that focused on a wide range of environmental topics from local food to remarkable trees and involved a total of 75 students from across the island.

The first prize in the primary school category went to Bermuda High School students Lily Jones and Ella Younie for their video about pollution called Wave Goodbye to Pollution.

Meanwhile Yvé Smith, Kaylah Stamper and Layla Williams of Bermuda High School won the first prize in the Middle School category for their video called Getting out into Nature.

“We were impressed by the wonderful variety of videos and also to see videos that focused on the connection of a healthy environment to the wellbeing of people,” director of education, Dr Dörte Horsfield, said.

“Several videos expressed the value of Bermuda’s outdoor spaces for exercise, relaxation and adventure or highlighted the overuse of electronic devices among the young generation.”

The mini film festival was sponsored by Marshall, Diel & Myers and took place on April 21 at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute,
