Motorcyclist fined for drunk driving
A 51-year-old Hamilton Parish man has been handed a $2,500 fine after pleading guilty to impaired driving.
The incident occurred shortly before 8pm on November 9 last year.
Magistrates’ Court heard that Kenneth Williams was on a motorcycle travelling east on North Shore Road in Smith’s Parish when he collided with another vehicle while attempting to overtake three vehicles.
Police attended the scene of the crash and detected the smell of alcohol on Williams’ breath.
He was transported to hospital for treatment, at which time he was placed under arrest. Samples were also collected.
Williams has a previous connection for impaired driving in 2012, the court heard.
He was ordered to pay a $2,500 fine and was disqualified from operating all vehicles for three years by senior magistrate Juan Wolffe.
