Play at Cup Match was temporarily halted today after a mêlée involving spectators.

One man could be seen bleeding from the mouth after the fight, which happened at about 6.15pm. Three men were arrested in connection with the incident.

“It was all over in two minutes,” a police spokesman said. “It was not a major incident. Fisticuffs took place, police got in the middle and it was over.”

An ambulance arrived at the ground shortly afterwards. This evening, police said the victim’s injuries were not life-threatening.
