A lawyer at island firm Sedgwick Chudleigh has been Called to the Bermuda Bar.

Neil Thomson, an associate attorney at the firm, became eligible to practise as a barrister in Bermuda last Thursday after a court ceremony in front of Chief Justice Ian Kawaley.

Mr Thomson told the court: “I am thrilled to have been given the opportunity to join the ranks of the Bermuda Bar as an officer of this Court.”

And he thanked the partners of Sedgwick Chudleigh for “their tutelage and support”.

Mark Chudleigh, managing partner at Sedgwick Chudleigh, who moved Mr Thomson’s Call to the Bar, said: “We are very pleased to have Neil as a member of our team.

“He has quickly established himself as a valued and popular member of the firm and we all wish him the best for his career at the Bermuda Bar.”

Mr Thomson achieved bachelor’s and master’s degrees in philosophy in Canada.

He was later awarded a law degree from the University of Melbourne, Australia, and was admitted as a solicitor in the state of Victoria in 2013.

Before joining Sedgwick Chudleigh, he practised at DLA Piper in Melbourne on a variety of commercial and insurance-related litigation matters.
