The importance of saving money will be the topic of discussion at a Generation Next town hall meeting on Wednesday.

Micah Davis, the general manager of the Bermuda Credit Union, will give a presentation on fiscal responsibility at the event, in the Bermuda Industrial Union’s Dr EF Gordon Hall.

Mr Davis has worked in the credit union movement in Bermuda and overseas for more than 30 years and has been appointed international credit union development educator by the World Council of Credit Unions in Madison, Wisconsin.

He has been general manager of the BIU Members Credit Union Co-op Society since 2008.

Generation Next member Aminah Simmons said: “Generation Next believes it to be of paramount importance that all of Bermuda’s young people are adequately prepared to make effective decisions with all their finances and resources.

“We are confident that through these efforts our young people will have a greater financial literacy and allow for a greater sense of financial independence.

“We are pleased to partner with the Bermuda Credit Union to provide this youth town hall meeting focused on financial education among young people.”

All young people in attendance will have the chance to open an account with the Bermuda Credit Union without any opening fees. The meeting starts at 6.15pm.
