Two men were targeted in separate “opportunistic crimes” in Sandys yesterday, according to police.

Both incidents reportedly took place between noon and 12.30pm, and in both cases the suspects were described as a pair of black males on a single motorcycle.

According to a spokesman for the Bermuda Police Service, the first incident involved a 77-year-old American visitor, who was robbed of his wallet while walking along the Railway Trail near Fort Scaur, suffering minor injuries.

The second incident involved a 22-year-old man having his gold chain snatched from his neck while cycling along Malabar Road near Woody’s Drive.

“In each instance, the suspects are believed to be two black males travelling on one motorcycle,” the spokesman said. “However, there were no reports of weapons being used in either case.

“It is recommended that members of the public not have jewellery on display when travelling on our roads and motorists should be especially wary of two males acting suspiciously on one motorcycle, particularly in the western parishes.”
