Man in hospital after being hit by taxi
A man struck by a taxi in Southampton over the weekend remains in hospital in stable condition, according to police.
It happened on Horseshoe Road on Saturday at around 9.30pm.
According to police, the 33-year-old man was on the roadside near his residence when he was hit by the vehicle.
“The taxi driver stopped and spoke to the victim who initially stated that he was fine resulting in the driver leaving the scene,” police said in a release issued this morning.
A short time later, police said the man began experiencing severe pain and attended hospital where he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit with “serious abdominal injuries”.
As of this morning, the man was listed in stable condition, police said.
“Police are appealing for the taxi driver in this incident to please come forward as well as anyone who may have seen this incident or anyone who many have any information that may assist the investigation,” they said.
