Robertson’s Drugstore in St George is back in business after fire swept through the upper level of the building at the start of the month.

Joy Rothwell, one of the owners of the family business, said: “People were really positive and grateful when we reopened on Saturday, which is lovely.”

She added: “Our staff worked really hard to get us there. We are obviously not fully stocked, but our pharmacy is stocked and open for business. Everything was reordered new.”

With the top floor gutted, Robertson’s is operating from its downstairs floor.

The business is open this week from 8am to 6.30pm and a fire sale will be held later.

Ms Rothwell said the building’s upper floor, currently being cleaned out, will have to be completely rebuilt.

But she added: “We’re just happy that we’re back on our feet.”
