Golf cruise next summer
Bermuda’s first golf-themed cruise will set sail as part of the 2018 cruise season, according to the Bermuda Tourism Authority.
According to a BTA spokesman, US travel agency The Travel Mechanic and Oceana Cruises have partnered with Bermuda-based Par 3 Consulting for two voyages launching next July.
Anthony Mocklow, Par 3 Consulting founder and chief innovation officer, said: “We are delighted to be selected as the golf company of choice for these specialty cruises to Bermuda.
“Our knowledge of golf in the northeast US and Bermuda, along with our experience from the America’s Cup superyacht programme in Bermuda, make us well positioned to support these new, exciting Oceania Cruises.”
Meanwhile Jennie Mechanic, CEO of the Travel Mechanic said, “We are thrilled to have partnered with Oceania Cruises and Par 3 Consulting to launch this exciting, innovative golf destination initiative.
“Par 3 Consulting is the ideal partner. We will offer exceptional golf on seaside courses in Bermuda and we will do it using local companies who can expose our clients to the unique and special island way of life while they are in port.”
Andrew Brooks, BTA’s golf sales and marketing director, said the cruises will help to cultivate a “local experience with local experts” for visitors that cannot be replicated elsewhere.
Mr Brooks said: “This new partnership will help to build lasting golf vacation memories for the passengers of these new Oceania voyages and hopefully inspire them to come back and visit us by air in the future.”
