Gombeys take centre stage

Crowds packed the stands on Saturday evening for the Gombey Festival Showcase, which was expanded this year to a full weekend’s activities.
Among them were family and friends of the late Terry “Termite” Simmons, the Gombey stalwart who was this year’s honouree.
From 5pm to 9pm, the drumming and dancing of the Gombeys filled the main show ring at the Botanical Gardens.
The annual tradition is hosted by the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs.
