A bulk carrier sailing to Canada turned to Bermuda this weekend after a crew member suffered an electric shock.
According to an incident report, RCC Bermuda was contacted minutes after midnight on Friday about an injury on board the M/V Algoma Value.
The 804ft bulk carrier was travelling from Colombia to Nova Scotia when a crew member, a 33-year-old Indian national, was shocked while using a grinder.
The vessel, which was around 320 nautical miles north of Bermuda, had already reached out to Centro Internazionale Radio Medico in Rome, who recommended they turn to Bermuda to drop off the patient.
The bulk carrier met with the pilot boat St George just before 9am on Sunday, with the pilot boat bringing the patient to a waiting ambulance.
