Man arrested after early morning crash

A man was arrested in the early hours of this morning after a car hit two people in Hamilton.
A police spokesman said: “It appears that a car collided with a 41-year-old Southampton man sat on a parked motorcycle and a 27-year-old Sandys parish woman standing nearby.
“Both were injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital by ambulance for treatment.”
He added: “At last check this afternoon the man was in stable condition on a general ward, while the woman had been treated and discharged.”
The incident happened just after 1am at the junction of Front Street and Parliament Street.
The police spokesman said the driver of the car, who was uninjured, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
Police have appealed for witnesses.
