The 30th annual Pals Fun Run/Walk will take place on Sunday.

It is the major annual fundraiser for the charity, with money going towards medical care, equipment and supplies for cancer patients in Bermuda.

Last year, 600 participants took part and more than $35,000 was raised.

The event, which is sponsored by Clarien Bank, Colonial Insurance, Butterfield and Vallis and Europa Imports, will feature three distance options — 3K, 5K or 10K — to suit walkers of all ages and abilities.

The walk will start and finish at Pals headquarters at 18 Point Finger Road, Paget, with all routes following the scenic Railway Trail.

The routes are as follows:

• 3k: turn around at Harmony Hall (before crossing South Shore Road);

• 5k: turn around at S. Hill;

• 10k: turn around at the bus turn around on Ord Road, Warwick.

Participants must register before the event. There will be no registration on the day of the walk. Adult registration fee is $30, children 5 to 15 years $15, and an additional $10 for late registration (after February 16). There is no fee for children under 5.

Registrations can be made at www.racedayworld.com until February 17 at noon, or at Pals headquarters, Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 4.30pm until February 16.

Late registration will be available at Pals headquarters on February 17 from 10am to 1pm.

Colleen English De Grilla, Pals executive director, said: “The Pals Fun Run/Walk is our major annual fundraiser and is important to our commitment to provide each and every cancer patient in Bermuda with all the care and comfort possible. Pals spends over $3,000 a day on patient care and receives no government grants. We rely on individual and corporate donations and events such as this to assist all patients and families free of charge.

“We would again like to thank our lead sponsor Clarien Bank for their generous support of this wonderful community event, along with supporting sponsors Colonial Insurance, Butterfield and Vallis and Europa Imports. We encourage the whole community to join the journey and walk with us for cancer care in Bermuda.”

Michael DeCouto, chief marketing officer of Clarien Bank, said: “It is always a privilege for Clarien to support Pals and the critical service it provides to cancer patients. Clarien employees will be involved either as participants and volunteers and so we urge the community to join us and help make this 30th anniversary event the most successful ever.”
