Two tourists were injured yesterday after a crash at the West End, police reported.

A police spokesman said the visitors had been headed west on rental bikes along Middle Road, Sandys, near the junction with George’s Bay Road, when a car came out of a driveway.

One 50cc auxiliary cycle struck the car, while the other rider fell attempting to stop.

A 50-year-old visiting American woman was hurt and transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment.

As of this morning she was recovering in stable condition on a general ward.

Her pillion passenger, a 12-year-old visiting American, was not injured and the rider of the other rental cycle, a 72-year-old visiting American man, sustained relatively minor injuries that did not require hospital treatment.

The three are visiting from Colorado and there were no other injuries reported. All three vehicles involved were damaged.

Also yesterday, a three vehicle collision was reported around 11am on North Shore Road, Pembroke, near the junction with First Church Lane.

It appears that a government vehicle was stationary on North Shore Road when a car being driven in the eastbound lane collided into the back of it.

A motorcyclist travelling in the same direction collided into the back of the car.

The female passenger of the government vehicle, believed to be a 41-year-old Warwick woman, was injured, transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance, and later discharged.

There were no other injuries reported, but all three vehicles were damaged, as well as a roadside wall.

Meanwhile, an 18-year-old woman who was seriously hurt in a single vehicle crash at 10.20pm on Monday is reportedly continuing to recover in stable condition on a general ward, after treatment in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.

The crash, which occurred on Middle Road, Smith’s, near the junction with Clarendon Road, injured the vehicle’s five passengers as well as the driver, who was initially arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.
