Berkeley marks anniversary with art display
Artwork from students and alumni at the Berkeley Institute is on display as part of anniversary celebrations.
The 120th Anniversary Alumni and Currents Students’ Art Show, in the school’s history room, will be followed by a silent auction on the week beginning next Friday.
Alumni to contribute include artist Charles Lloyd Tucker, Dame Jennifer Smith, the former premier, Otto Trott, Joan Forbes Darrell and Elizabeth Ann Trott.
Eloise Furbert, wife of former principal F.S. Furbert, donated Old Town Harbour View, and Florenz Maxwell, the historian and wife of former principal Clifford Maxwell, donated Boy With Flowers.
Mathematics teacher Marva Pearman Allen’s contributed a charcoal piece, Mother in a Reflective Mood.
Maths teacher Frances Furbert contributed Yellow Cottage, and current teacher Tenisha Dill Harbour Nights.
Other teachers from across the school system to take part include Jolene Bean, Lavern Lau, Nathalie Landy and Shirley Pearman.
The silent auction will run until the final day of the show on April 21.
