Police today issued an advisory for motorists about traffic restrictions in the run-up to this weekend’s MS Amlin World Triathlon.

About 100 cyclists under police escort will have a “familiarisation ride” tomorrow morning before of the men’s and women’s elite races on Saturday.

A police spokesman said that officers would “assist with traffic management to facilitate”.

The riders will set off from the docks on Front Street towards North Roundabout.

They will then head up Corkscrew Hill onto Middle Road continuing west onto Reid Street.

The group will then head down Queen Street onto Front Street and continue along Pitts Bay Road before turning around at Woodbourne Avenue and heading back along Pitts Bay Road to Front Street.

The spokesman said riders would complete two laps of the course “which is anticipated to take no more than 30 minutes”.

The restrictions take effect tomorrow at 10am.

Traffic will also be affected on Saturday with several roads closed to motorists for the triathlon.

Racing will take place between 7am and 6pm in and around the City of Hamilton.

Traffic and parking restrictions will be in place on numerous roads, including;

• Wesley Street and Park Road

• Serpentine Road,

• Pitt’s Bay Road,

• Bermudiana Road,

• Woodbourne Avenue,

• Richmond Road,

• Crow Lane,

• The Lane,

• Pomander Road,

• Harbour Road,

• Trimingham Road,

• Corkscrew Hill,

• Middle Road, Devonshire,

• Cavendish Road.

Both the Bermuda Police Service and the Ministry of Public Works thanked the public for their co-operation and patience.
