Two people injured in road crashes
Police have appealed for witnesses after two serious road crashes last night.
A motorcyclist hit by a car this evening was taken to hospital with head and leg injuries.
Police said the crash happened outside the Docksider Pub and Restaurant on Front Street about 9.35pm.
A spokesman said: “It appears that a car was stationary in a parking bay when the driver commenced his journey in a westerly direction. However, he collided with a man on a motorcycle travelling in the same direction.”
The scene was cordoned off and witnesses were asked to contact Pc Tiffani DeSilva at 295-0011.
A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital with leg and head injuries after crashing into a wooden barrier.
Police said the man lost control of his cycle after overtaking a taxi heading east on North Shore Road in Smith’s, about 200 metres east of Store Hill.
The accident happened about 10.05pm and a spokesman said the road had been cordoned off while officers processed the scene.
