Charity events for Bermuda Day Weekend
The former Oracle Team USA base will be the venue for two events over the Bermuda Day Weekend that will benefit local charities.
Planning Factory Bermuda and Sound Concepts, local event planning and production companies, are staging events the former base at Dockyard with some of the proceeds going to the Chewstick Foundation and Friends of Hospice.
Cathy Belvedere, executive director of The Friends of Hospice said: “We are so pleased to have been chosen as the charity of choice by Planning Factory Bermuda and Sound Concepts. We are both honoured and humbled.
“We are also so grateful to all the businesses and individuals who have stepped up to donate prizes to make this event truly fabulous, with funds being raised for Friend of Hospice, the charity that supports Agape House.”
On Saturday, May 26, the old Oracle base will host the Ignite Nightclub, with some proceeds going to Chewstick. On the Sunday, it will be the base for a Fourways Brunch with a game of “The Price is Right”, with part proceeds going to Friends of Hospice.
Lindsay Barnett, creative director of Planning Factory Bermuda and John Lee, production director of Sound Concepts, said the holiday weekend was a great time to celebrate.
Ms Barnett added: “We think these are two outstanding events that will appeal to everyone’s sense of entertainment.
“We’ve designed two very different events that include the best talent on island, as well as an international DJ act. We guarantee unforgettable experiences with some of the money going to very good causes.”
Ignite, a premier Bacardi nightclub, will feature world-class act, DJ Ape Drums, spinning modern EDM and Caribbean/Afro Bass dance tunes to move the dancefloor and will be accompanied by local artist, DJ Rusty G, among other surprise entertainers.
Ticket price of $75 will include entrance, entertainment from 10pm until 2.30am with dancing and two Bacardi brand drinks.

“Bacardi has long supported Chewstick and we are also happy to support the boat transportation to and from Ignite as part of our commitment to ensuring people can travel safely.”
Fourways will close its restaurant on May 27 to serve two seatings at the Oracle base, with each brunch seating accompanied by live jazz music by The Unit and followed by interactive sessions of “The Price Is Right”, hosted by Bermudian entertainer and well-known emcee, Mike Bishop, a friend of Bob Barker, who used to host the TV show on CBS.
Prizes donated by local companies include a trip for two to anywhere in the contiguous US or the Caribbean, an iPhone 8 electronics package, one night at The Loren in a King Suite, a mattress with box springs and bed in a bag, a fishing trip for six, a Prosecco party for 12 and a pair of custom-made Delle Valla Sandals. Every ticket purchased also provides people with one chance to crack the code to win a luxury car.
There will also be a competitive silent auction for the Hospice’s legendary ducks, painted and dressed by local artists.
Ticket price of $150 per person or $1,800 for corporate tables of 12 include Fourways Signature Sunday Brunch with one mimosa, guaranteed seat at “The Price is Right”, one chance to crack the code to win a luxury car, and the chance to support Friends of Hospice, which will receive a portion of the proceeds of this event.
