More than 2,000 people took part in the XL Catlin End-to-End on Saturday.

Final fundraising figures have yet to be tallied, but organisers said they were delighted with the turnout.

Anne Mello, chairwoman of the End-to-End Charitable Trust, said: “It was outstanding. We had perfect weather. Our participants just had a zest and an energy and an appreciation and good humour.

“That is something we look forward to every year and when it happens, we are just delighted.”

Ms Mello said about 2,500 people signed up to walk, cycle, row, swim or paddle board for good causes.

She explained that funds would continue to come in for another month and added: “We are delighted that everybody participated.

“This is an event that allows you to have that great outdoor adventure and challenge but also for the good of Bermuda, the Bermuda charities.

“If anybody has any outstanding funds, we would be happy to have those come in.”

Monies raised will go to the Bermuda Sloop Foundation, cancer charity Pals, the Bermuda School of Music and Bermuda Diabetes Association.

The charity winner of the People’s Choice Award will be announced when all the votes cast at registration are counted.
