Destination Dockyard is set to return next week with music, art, fun and games in the West End.

The revitalised event series, to be run by PinkSand Entertainment, will take place every Monday until the end of September with occasional dates in October.

Jonathan Tankard of PinkSand Entertainment, said: “We are always looking for opportunities to provide a platform for local entertainers and performers in different ways.

“Destination Dockyard has been absent for a few years and this was a great opportunity to bring it back to life using our relationships and creative ideas in the entertainment space.”

Mr Tankard added: “Dockyard is full of history, culture and opportunity. The ideas were jumping out at us when this opportunity presented itself. PinkSand has crafted a niche in the market for entertainment consulting and management locally, and we saw the opportunity to use our expertise in a partnership with Wedco as an excellent opportunity.”

The event series will feature an “interactive village” on Dockyard’s North Lawn which will include sections for art, theatre, food, sports and technological attractions.

Mr Tankard said: “Interactive is the way to go. Entertainment today has shifted, becoming more about the experience and not just a product. Standing behind a table and selling a product is a thing of the past.

“Guests want to feel as much a part of the experience and atmosphere as possible. By providing this totally immersive village we feel it will add a fresh new experience that guests are yearning for.”

PinkSand Entertainment won the contract to organise the event through an RFP process launched by Wedco earlier this year.

Joanna Cranfield, WEDCO’s business development manager, said PinkSand has put together an exciting event.

She said: “Jonathan and Zuri Darrell had so many good ideas and the things they have planned are amazing.

“It will be a unique experience for Bermuda — it will showcase local talent in way not done before and I am sure it will be a huge hit for locals and visitors. I can’t wait for it to start.”

Destination Dockyard will be held on Mondays from 7pm to 10pm until September 24.

The series will continue in October with events on October 6, 15, 21, 26 and 31.
