Community volunteers are being urged to come forward to help at Mirrors’ six-day SuperCamp programme for middle school students.

Social development minister Michael Weeks said volunteers undergo two days of training in preparation for camp, and in turn receive free cutting-edge training in the Quantum Learning methods and the “8 Keys of Excellence”.

The camp will give 60 middle school students an opportunity to develop their socio-emotional skills using the innovative neuroscience-based learning techniques developed by the Quantum Learning Network.

Mirrors is in critical need of ten more volunteers to assist with the camp.

Mirrors SuperCamp uses a structured curriculum to provide students with intensive personal development skills. They learn the framework for personal success with the 8 Keys of Excellence.

Kimberley Jackson, programme manager, said: “We keep students’ minds engaged and bodies moving throughout the entire camp through a range of activities focused on communication, collaboration, creativity, character development and of course fun.

Mr Weeks said: “Mirrors relies on community volunteers to create the positive, supportive environment necessary for learning and growing.

“A cornerstone of the organisation is building positive relationships between adults and young people. It’s one of the hallmarks of Mirrors, with proven results shared by both past volunteers and students. I encourage you to volunteer and support our youth.”

Mirrors is appealing for volunteers to spend six days, from August 21 to 26, supporting the camp and two days of training on August 19 and 20th before the camp.
