Driver caused injuries to biker in crash
A 51-year-old Warwick woman has been banned from driving for two years for causing grievous bodily by driving without due care and attention.
Magistrates’ Court heard that on January 6 of this year, Tracy Trott was driving her car on Palmetto Road at the junction to Robert’s Avenue in Devonshire Parish at 4.43pm when a motorcycle and her vehicle collided.
As a result the rider was thrown from his bike on to the bumper of another car before hitting the road and sustaining fractures to his leg.
Trott told Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo that she had not seen the rider coming despite having looked left and right twice.
She said that while the biker had the right of way, it had emerged through questioning that he did not have a driver’s licence and that he had been speeding.
“I was negligent but he didn’t make an attempt to stop,” she said.
Mr Tokunbo banned her from driving all vehicles for two years and fined her $1,500.
Trott asked the judge whether he felt that was fair, to which he replied: “It’s the law. You pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm.
