Cyclist dies as a result of Cup Match crash
A 50-year-old cyclist injured in a crash this month has died.
Keith Trott passed away yesterday in the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, where he had been treated since the crash on August 2, the first day of Cup Match.
The crash happened at about 12.20am on Southside Road, St David’s, near the junction with Cooper’s Island Road.
Police said Mr Trott was alert and talked to emergency services personnel when they arrived at the scene.
A police spokesman said Mr Trott complained of cuts to his arm and a bump and cut to the back of his head, and was taken to hospital.
Mr Trott’s death is the eighth road fatality of the year. Police want to speak to anyone who may have seen him or were with him on August 2.
It is thought he left a campsite on a black pedal cycle and travelled along Southside Road.
