A sailing programme for young people has won a new three-year sponsorship deal from professional services firm PwC Bermuda.

Endeavour Community Sailing, part of the legacy of last year’s America’s Cup, helps young people from different backgrounds learn to sail and experience science, technology, engineering, arts and maths education.

PwC has sponsored the programme since it was set up in 2015 in the run-up to Bermuda’s successful hosting of the international sailing event.

Employees at the Hamilton-based firm volunteer at Endeavour community days, carry out its annual audit and impact report, as well as make financial contributions to the organisation.

Jennifer Pitcher of Endeavour said: “PwC Bermuda has provided instrumental support to Endeavour Community Sailing over the past three years and we’re grateful to have their support confirmed for three more years.

“With PwC’s generous support, together we’re continuing to make a lasting impact through Endeavour’s experiential education and youth development programmes.”

More than 2,200 students have learnt confidence-building, teamwork and leadership skills on the programme so far.

Scott Watson-Brown, a partner at PwC, said: “Together with the support of L&F Indemnity, we look forward to helping inspire student learning through Endeavour’s interactive and educational sailing programmes.

“PwC Bermuda’s employees wholeheartedly invest in Endeavour Community Sailing’s mission to educate Bermuda’s youth through sailing and inspire young people to pursue brighter futures as a result of participating in the programmes.”

PwC Bermuda took part in recent Endeavour programmes, including an end of summer sailing session with Endeavour graduates and a community day at the Endeavour West Fort.

Endeavour graduates also sailed to Shelly Bay from Endeavour West in Dockyard and Endeavour East in St George’s to join PwC Bermuda employees for an afternoon of sailing.

Tom Herbert-Evans, Endeavour sailing manager, said: “We’re incredibly thankful to PwC Bermuda for their wonderful support of Endeavour Community Sailing.

“It was amazing to see everyone working hard together to complete all of the projects.”
