Crime Stoppers phone line down
A member of the public looking to provide police with information has reported a roadblock.
The Royal Gazette was alerted last night that the Crime Stoppers telephone line was not in service.
The information came from a woman who said she had unsuccessfully tried all afternoon to contact the tip line.
Crime Stoppers allows callers to provide police with anonymous information.
Calls to 800-8477 last night were met with the message: “The number you have dialled has not been recognised.”
The Crime Stoppers website provides an administration telephone number. Calls placed to that number this evening were met with the message: “All circuits are busy now. Please try your call again later.”
According to the BPS website, Crime Stoppers was first started in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in 1976.
