Pupils design Christmas cards
Earlier this year His Excellency the Governor, Mr John Rankin CMG, invited local middle schools to participate in helping design the 2018 Government House Christmas Card. The theme was “Christmas in Bermuda / A Bermudiful Christmas”.
Over 50 entries were received from four middle schools and a panel of Government House staff took on the difficult task of selecting the winning design. After careful consideration a decision was made to choose one design from each school.
The winning designs were created by:
• Millie Lewis, Bermuda High School for Girls
• Naza Amyoony, Mount Saint Agnes Academy
• Ashley Swann, Clearwater Middle School
• Malikah Tankard, Warwick Academy
At a gathering at Government House on 20 December, the Governor met the students and their parents and congratulated them on their winning designs.
Governor Rankin said “I was very impressed by all the entries we received from the various schools. It was a difficult process to select the four winning designs. We are all aware of the importance of the arts in education. There are many proven benefits – creativity, confidence, perseverance and collaboration – and I am encouraged to see the high level of talent that exists in our schools. I offer my thanks and congratulations to each of the winners for designing such lovely Christmas Cards which Government House has been delighted to use.”
