A charity for the elderly and terminally ill has received donations from a business partner.

Friends for Hospice, the charity that supports Agape House, received $4,150 from Legal & General Reinsurance Company.

The cheque was presented on the steps of The Royal Gazette’s offices in Hamilton.

Robin Sidders, the interim executive director of Friends of Hospice, said that the money would help fund the specialised therapies offered at Agape House.

She also said: “All of our services and programmes are free of charge, so we rely on 100 per cent donations, we have no ability to generate revenue, so everything will go towards these services and programmes and the general Agape House.”

Thomas Olunloyo, CEO of Legal & General Reinsurance Company, said: “A lot of our products are designed for people in later stages of life, and so doing things in support of the elderly is something that is very close to the spirit of what we do as a company.

“We will continue to do this on an ongoing basis and we will continue to support Friends of Hospice in the future as well.”
