Middle and high school students were given free copies of the anti-violence Visionz Magazine as an extension of the Bermuda Wears Red campaign.

Desmond Crockwell, anti-violence campaigner, Youthvision operator and editor of Visionz Magazine, delivered copies to school officials and students across the island last week.

Mr Crockwell also partnered with Soulfood Productions, Trinity Sound System and fellow campaigner Antonio Belvedere to organise a series of morning school assemblies about the need to make the right life choices.

He said yesterday: “The wearing of red on Martin Luther King Day was to show love and support for those who have lost loved ones to violence and to help to promote the message to stop the killing.

“The books we produce are to highlight through real experiences the tragic effects of gun violence and violence in general, as well as to offer solutions and present and encourage a more positive mindset.

“Individually and collectively we can make a difference — we are making a difference — and will continue to make a difference as we demonstrate and continue to encourage, foster and facilitate a positive mindset that has love as a core principle.”
