Fifty people were treated to an evening of fine dining by the staff and patients of Fresh Breath Dental.

The event dubbed Share the Love was hosted in recognition of the 49th birthday of Zuri Samuels, the founder of the facility.

Ms Samuels, president of the three-year-old dental facility, said she came up with the idea to do something for Bermudians late last year.

“I saw everything that was happening here in Bermuda and thought we need to understand each other’s self-worth.”

An open invitation was given to the public, and the first 25 people to e-mail “Share the Love” were allowed to bring a guest.

She said: “It was so beautiful, I actually cried. It was phenomenal. Each patient did something. Everybody was pleased and thankful.”

Patients decorated the venue, prepared the meal and provided entertainment.

“It was joyful to see people who did not know each other getting to know one another and laughing,” she added.

The dinner was held at the Pavilion at the National Sports Centre on Saturday.

Anika DeShields, one of the guests, said the event exceeded expectations.

“It was more than we expected; it blew our minds,” she said.

She added: “I felt like royalty. it was a phenomenal event from the ambience, to the food, to the entertainment.”

Emma Williams, one of the Fresh Breath Dental patients who served the guests and acted as photographer, said: “This was a very unique event. To be able to give back to your community in anyway is fulfilling.”

Patients of Fresh Breath Dental who helped prepare the meal included Oscar Samuels, Caroline Armstrong, Sonia Barker, James Wambui, Shawn Ming, Lisa Ming, Joshua Butler, Eugene Simons and Angelique Wolffe-Roser.

Judith Alexander, Ericka Brown, Roxianna Richardson, and Ameerah Richardson helped out in the kitchen.

Derrick Durrant and Earl Burgess worked as servers, while DeAzha Chambers did decorations.

Allana Brown was the evening’s main performer and Emma Williams did photographs. J Roc Productions did videography while music and sound was done by Julian Johnson of Island Soul.
