The Grateful Bread is hosting its monthly dinner for people in need this evening and is inviting donors and volunteers to lend a helping hand.
The programme, run by Juliana Snelling and Suzi Outerbridge, provides free hot meals for the needy takes place from 5.45pm at Astwood Hall — adjacent to St Andrew’s Church on Church Street.
As well as meals, there will be a number of giveaways including shoes, household items and toiletries.
Volunteers can turn up this evening at 5pm, or slightly earlier, and to help with set up, food serving and break down of the event.
Donors can purchase food or food related items including plates, kitchen cleaning products via the Genius Sign Up sheet online.
Ms Outerbridge said: “Anyone in need of a meal is welcome to turn up.
“This month we are also asking for donations towards the Support Public Schools Bermuda initiative. Please visit the website www.sps.bm to make a donation or bring much needed school supplies to the Grateful Bread including pens, pencils, glue sticks and folders.
“We are also supporting a paper drive and are asking individuals and organisations to consider donating paper for use by Bermuda’s public schools.
“If you have an abundance of avocados or grapefruits etc please think of our guests who would love to have some.
“We have had a special request for men’s sneakers size 10, 11 and 12 if anyone can help.
“As we are coming into the colder months we are also asking for warm clothes and blankets.
“We have been quite short on volunteers the last few months and we would like to urge anybody who can help to please come out and support us. Don’t forget, your kids will get community hours if they help out.
“Once again, many thanks to everyone for all your help to make this event a success each month.”
