Pink Links Fore the Cure golf event

Newstead Belmont Hills Golf Resort & Spa, in partnership with the LPGA-AGA Bermuda Chapter, will host its second annual “Pink Links Fore the Cure” Charity Golf Tournament benefitting the Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Centre whose mission is to provide the highest standard of care when it comes to early detection, radiation treatment and support and education programs for cancer and other diseases to all residents of Bermuda.

In honour of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the event will begin on Friday evening, October 25, with a twist on Newstead’s famous Happy Hour. The pink-themed bash, open to the public as well as event sponsors and players from 5-9 p.m., will be a night to remember as the resort’s 27 Harbour bar and pool deck will be turned into a pink paradise. From balloons and flowers to illuminating lights that will turn the pool and surrounding palm trees into a soft pink glow, the evening will be highlighted with signature “pink” drinks from Gosling’s, music by DJ Rusty G, food and beverages courtesy of Beau Rivage and a silent auction benefiting BCHC. Complimentary transportation on the resort’s water shuttle between Newstead and Hamilton will run between 4:45-9:50 p.m.

On Saturday, October 26, the tournament will kick-off at Newstead Belmont Hills Golf Club with registration beginning at 7:15 a.m., followed by a continental breakfast at Divots and a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m. The day will conclude with a reception, tournament prizes and check presentation.

“We are excited to do our part in the fight against cancer and help support the Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre which is so critical to the residents of Bermuda,” said Bushara Bushara, general manager of Newstead Belmont Hills Golf Resort & Spa. “Gauging by the success of last year’s tournament and the response so far this year, we are confident we will reach our goal of raising $20,000.”

The tournament is filling up fast with 15 teams already signed up to play and four main sponsors in place: Gosling’s (Gold); Pompano Beach Club (Silver); and Cary Olsen and One Communications (Bronze). Businesses and individuals, alike, are welcome to participate by becoming a tournament sponsor and/or sponsoring a team, tee or green. The Platinum level for $4,500 is still available, while tee and green sponsors are $200/each; both for $300.
