Filmmakers are invited to submit short films to be considered for screening in the short film competition at the Bermuda International Film Festival.

BerMovie Day will feature submissions from Bermudians anywhere or Bermuda-based filmmakers.

Bermuda film professionals, including many who are now based overseas, are expected to gather for the celebrations from March 20 to 26 next year.

The deadline for entries is January 1, 2020. The submission fee is waived.

Bermudians and Bermuda-based filmmakers can also be considered for the prestigious Bermuda Shorts Competition which annually sees some 600 films submitted from around the world.

Submissions may be uploaded to FilmFreeway at www.filmfreeway.com. The entry fee for international films is $65.

For the Bermuda Shorts Competition, films must have been completed after October 1, 2018, and they must not have been released theatrically or shown on television prior to the festival to be eligible for Oscar® consideration.

Films must also not have been made publicly available online on YouTube or Vimeo (excludes password protected posts). Submitted films must be completed and non-English films must have subtitles. All films must be 40 minutes or less.

Some 450 short films have been submitted to the festival for consideration to date.

The winner of the Bermuda Shorts Competition is automatically submitted to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences® for consideration for the Short Film — Live Action Oscar®.
