Lending an ear: David Burt, the Premier, listens to Selina Simons, the foster care co-ordinator at the Department of Child and Family Services at the annual Foster Children’s Christmas party

The Premier helped celebrate Bermuda’s foster families at the annual Foster Children’s Christmas party.

David Burt was joined by Kathy Lynn Simmons, the Attorney-General and Minister of Legal Affairs, along with Cabinet Office staff at the event at St Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church Hall.

Selina Simons, the foster care co-ordinator at the Department of Child and Family Services, said: “Each year the department is faced with providing foster homes to upwards of more than 80 children.

“As each year comes to an end, it is always a delight to put together the Annual Foster Children’s Christmas party, which is a success due to the collective generosity of many persons.

“A special thanks to Bermuda Restaurants Limited for their continued support in hosting the Angel Tree and space for the collection of gifts.

“The Angel Tree made it possible for anonymous members of the general public to donate gifts for the foster children.”

The event, held last Thursday, featured a range of food, games and gifts, along with a visit from Santa Claus.
