Saunto is Christmas baby

Saunto Wilson became Bermuda’s only Christmas Day baby — despite not being expected to put in an appearance for another two days.

Proud parents Savanna Ramotar and Khyren Wilson said a lot of friends and family had hoped for a Christmas Day birth.

Ms Ramotar, 22, said: “He came early. A lot of people told me he would be a Christmas baby, so people definitely wished this on me. Everybody’s just happy that he is here.”

Saunto, whose middle name is Lorenzo, arrived just after 11am at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital’s maternity unit, weighing just over 7lb.

The couple, from St David’s, said they hoped to get their new son home in two days — the day he was scheduled to be delivered.

Mr Wilson added: “I’m just excited. I’m tired of waiting; waiting makes me nervous. I had to just sit back and wait.”

Mr Wilson said: “Finally seeing him, that’s when it really hit me.”

Ms Ramotar added she was aware that babies born on Christmas Day often felt short-changed on the gift front because their birthdays were overshadowed by the festive season.

But she promised: “He is going to get everything.”
