Job advice for former BF&M staff

Staff who lost their jobs at BF&M have been offered the chance to build job-hunting skills through the Department of Workforce Development.

Labour minister Lovitta Foggo said the Labour Relations Section would also provide support for those made redundant by the restructuring at the company’s life insurance business.

BF&M said last week that seven posts were being made redundant, although two Bermudians affected had been offered full-time positions in the group.

Ms Foggo said today: “I remain extremely sympathetic to those experiencing redundancy or career disruption and the anxieties that they and their families might be feeling.”

She said the Department of Workforce Development would provide services including resume critique and development, interview skills preparation, career guidance, sponsorship and funding for retraining, help with obtaining professional credentials, networking and job search assistance.

Anyone with questions over matters such as their compensation package should contact the Labour Relations Section.
