Knives and Skin for launch of new film series
A theatre in Dockyard is to launch a series of edgy art house films tonight.
A spokeswoman for the Media Lounge said the monthly Afterhours series will highlight “soon-to-be cult and art house classics” that take an innovative approach to storytelling.
The lounge wanted to create “an unforgettable experience” for those who want to wind down with a movie and a bite, and enjoy some of the best and most bizarre in cinema, a programme that would attract the sophisticated film lover and to the more adventurous.
Knives and Skin, nominated for Best Film at the 2019 Berlin Film Festival.
The film was said to be a “part suburban nightmare, part neon-soaked teenage fever dream”, which followed the fear and distrust that spreads across a Midwestern town after the disappearance of a girl.
Knives and Skin will be screened at 9pm at the Media Lounge, previously the Neptune Theatre, in Dockyard’s Cooperage Building, opposite the Frog & Onion Pub.
• Tickets are available in advance at www.medialoungebda.com or can be bought at the door on the night with cash or credit card. Tickets are $15. The film will run for 112 minutes and is not rated
