Trainee motorcycle police hit the roads

Road users were warned today that trainee police motorcyclists would be out on the roads over the next nine days.

A police spokesman said the course will teach the officers how to respond to different types of emergencies and will require them to travel at high speed, sometimes with blue lights and sirens on.

He asked road users to give way and exercise caution if they encountered the trainees, as they would for any emergency vehicle.

He added the trainees, who will be on the roads until February 21, could be recognised by their yellow reflective vests.
