Argus donates to Women’s Resource Centre
An insurance group has donated $10,000 worth of grocery gift cards to a charity dedicated to women and their families.
The boost from the Argus Group to the Women’s Resource Centre will give struggling families the opportunity to buy $100 worth of food and supplies from the MarketPlace supermarket chain,
Elaine Butterfield, the executive director of the WRC, said: “On behalf of the Women’s Resource Centre and our many clients who will benefit from this generous donation, we are sincerely grateful to Argus for their support.
“88 per cent of single-family households are headed by women and we have been inundated with requests for support.
“We are receiving up to 60 calls per day, which evidences the extent of the need.
“Argus’s donation goes a long way to ensuring children are fed, even as parents have lost employment or negotiate the difficulties of working from home.”
Alison Hill, the CEO of the Argus Group, said that the gift card was designed to support families who faced hardship because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
She added: “We are cognisant that these are challenging times and Argus is committed to providing access to quality healthcare.
“With the understanding that our clients have unique needs, we remain flexible during this time and are working with clients to address their specific financial circumstances.”
The Women’s Resource Centre was given a total of 100 gift cards and held their first distribution on Tuesday.
The charity will take applications for the vouchers on 295-3882 or by e-mail at wrc@wrcbermuda.com.
