Investment firm backs Covid-19 health staff
Ministry of Health staff on the front line of the battle against Covid-19 got a free lunch as a thank-you from an international business.
Schroders (Bermuda) donated the meal to epidemiologists, medical officers, community health nurses and Covid-19 helpline operators.
The food was cooked by the Portofino and Pssst restaurants in Hamilton and delivered by Five Star home delivery and Sargasso Sea on Friday.
A spokesman for Schroder’s said: “So many people in the community are working very hard under enormous pressure and stress and we wanted to recognise and thank them for their sacrifice.
“We also wanted to use the opportunity to support Bermuda’s restaurants and small businesses.”
Kim Wilson, the Minister of Health, said: “This small gesture went a long way in my team feeling appreciated by the community which they serve.
“They have been working tirelessly over the past several weeks to ensure the impact of Covid-19 to our island is minimised as much as possible.”
The investment management firm also helped provide meals for the night shift at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital last week.
