Free lunches for nurses at the Princess

To mark the extraordinary contribution of nurses in Bermuda, Hamilton Princess & Beach Club is giving out free lunches to nurses on Tuesday, May 12.

The giveaway is to celebrate International Nurses Day, which takes place on May 12 each year, to coincide with the date of Florence Nightingale’s birth, and embraces the #ThankANurse campaign from the Bermuda Nursing Association (BNA). The campaign aims to raise awareness of the difficult job of many nurses and to promote respect for the profession.

Nurses will be able to choose between Turkey Curry or Lentil Chickpea Curry with Peas and Rice between 12pm and 1:30pm on Tuesday. Following the successful breakfast and lunch programme for frontline workers, nurses should queue up for the hotel’s ‘drive-thru’ at the front entrance but must remain in their car or on their bikes and respect physical distancing rules laid out by the Bermuda Government. All registered nurses are eligible and should present a work ID or a letter from their employer confirming their job title. There are only 400 meals available in total and they will be served on a ‘first come, first served’ basis, with a portion being delivered to Bermuda Hospital Board hospitals.

Renee Faulcon, President of the Bermuda Nurses Association, said: ‘We are thrilled that Hamilton Princess & Beach Club has chosen to recognise International Nurses Day and to #ThankANurse! It’s wonderful to see the recognition of our dedicated nurses and we are grateful for the support of the whole community in this time.’

Tim Morrison, General Manager at Hamilton Princess & Beach Club, said: “We are pleased to #ThankANurse and to be able to show our support for them, particularly during this strange time. We hope that by providing a hot, delicious meal for them we can make their day just a little easier.”
