TCD brings back telephone service

Call TCD: the Transport Control Department has brought back its call-in service(File photograph)

The Transport Control Department has brought back its call-in service, allowing people without internet access to relicense their vehicles by phone.

A spokesman said the option, which was offered just before shelter-in-place restrictions got lifted, had been popular.

To encourage physical distancing, the call-in service was expanded to include relicensing commercial as well as private vehicles.

It will be available on weekdays between 8am and 3pm.

Customers should renew their insurance policy and pass a vehicle examination first, then call the main TCD number 292-1271 and enter either extension 2138 or 2363.

The service is only available for credit or debit card transactions.

Licence certificates can then be collected based on a driver’s permitted shopping day. Collection on weekdays is from the National Stadium pavilion on Roberts Avenue in Devonshire and on Saturdays at the TCD North Street facility from 9am to 3pm.

The TCD North Street facility is open to all customers every Saturday in May for vehicle examinations, registrations, and licensing transactions.

Instructions on setting up an eTCD account can be found in the resources section on https://www.gov.bm/department/transport-control.
