City Hall reception services to resume

The City of Hamilton advises the public that it will resume its reception services at City Hall, on a limited basis, on Monday, May 25th, 2020. Hours of operation will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:00am – 12:00pm. To limit visits and health risks, the City encourages all customers to explore the available transaction options online.

Customers must adhere to strict social distancing and safety guidelines upon entry to City Hall. Entry to City Hall will only be through the front doors on Church Street. The rear doors will remain closed in the early phases of recovery to discourage the public from using the City Hall foyer as a pedestrian thoroughfare. Short-term parking for City Hall customers will still be available behind the rear cedar doors. All customers must wear a mask and use the provided hand sanitizer before their transaction. Only one customer at a time will be allowed into the reception area. The City has engaged the Town Crier to greet customers and to ensure that the safety guidelines are abided by. The reception area will be regularly sanitized after transactions and safety signage will be posted. Customers at reception are encouraged to make any payments with a credit or debit card, where posssible, to limit the exchange of cash for health and safety reasons.

Customers are reminded to visit the City’s website, www.cityofhamilton.bm, for the many transactions that are now available online, reducing the need to visit City Hall. These include applications and payment for disabled parking permits, monthly car park permits, doctors’ parking permits and residential parking permits. The City is also encouraging customers to use the direct deposit option for payments for City taxes, health insurance, sewerage, al fresco dining, encroachments and City-owned property rent payments. For banking information please email finance@cityhall.bm or call 292-1234.

Payment for parking in the City lots can be made using coins or notes (exact amount as no change is given), via credit or debit card or by using the EasyPark Mobile app. Parking vouchers are available for purchase at City Hall reception.

The reception desk at the City Works Depot on Laffan Street is also in operation but customers are asked to call their City contact ahead of arrival as walk-ins at this time are discouraged. The same safety measures at City Hall are applicable at the Works Depot.

The Events, Marketing and Communications teams continue to work remotely but customers can email events@cityhall.bm with any queries. The public will be informed of all updates to City services and reception hours as Bermuda eases through the phases of recovery.
